4. Halle Berry’s Head Loses Battle with Concrete While Filming The Call

Glamorous Oscar-winner Halle Berry had a not-so-glamorous encounter with a concrete floor during a fight sequence in “The Call.”

The resulting head injury was a show-stopper as shooting had to be suspended for the day until she could seek treatment from Cedar-Sinai Medical Centre.

This may be the only exciting thing coming from that set, for the film is garnering lackluster reviews.

Apparently the injury happened during the shooting of the film’s last 15 minutes, since that is the only part with any action involving Berry.

She plays a phone operator at a 911 center, and most of the movie is composed of endless shots of her sitting at her phone.

She talks, yells and cries, but she doesn’t move much. Reviewer Ignatiy Vishnevetsky of RogerEbert.com calls it “claustrophobic” and “spatially wonky.” This last criticism is a bit vague, but we can assume that it’s not good.

However, we should not pass judgment too soon. This would not be the first time a great movie was trashed by the critics, and Halle Berry’s many loyal fans may pull this one out of the fire in the end.

Some will also find the theme of the single woman living in the threatening city believable despite any flaws. Another good example was “Titanic,” which presented a historically unlikely story that struck home with a modern, romance-hungry audience.

In the end, Halle Berry may decide that her bump on the head was worth it, after all.
