9. Tom Cruise’s divorce from Nicole Kidman – $90 million

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were definitely the Brad and Angelina of the 1990s, but unlike their famous counterparts, couldn’t manage to stay together.

Tom reportedly tried to cheat his wife out of her settlement by claiming they were married for less than 10 years, officially divorcing 72 hours before their 10th year anniversary.

Marriages that last less than 10 years are by law considered “short-term”, and don’t bring sizable settlements, but after the dust had cleared Kidman went on to say she was happy with her share, an estimated $90 million out of their $340 marital estate.

Cruise went on to marry Katie Holmes, but she divorced him too to protect their daughter Suri from scientology. In the meantime, Kidman found love with Keith Urban.
