15. Busta Rhymes

Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr., a.k.a. Busta Rhymes, is a Brooklyn native who converted to Islam and revealed his new religion to the world in 2007.

The degree of his devotion to the teachings of the Qur’an remains debatable, following a scandal caused by his track “Arab Money”, which was heavily criticized by Muslims all over the world for its explicit rhymes about the luxurious lifestyle in oil-rich countries.

In an attempt to get back at his critics, the rapper released a remix of the song with Qur’an verses in it, which created an even worse reaction by the Muslim community, as Qur’an is not supposed to be quoted in music.
