Shawn Corey Carter, a.k.a. Jay Z was born and raised in Brooklyn. And growing up in a poor family in the 70’s Brooklyn meant you were surrounded by drugs, guns, and crime. This lead Jay Z to becoming a drug dealer himself.
Since then, Jay Z gave up on selling illegal substances and turned to music.
His street knowledge, as he claims, taught him a lot about entrepreneurship and business, which his music mogul status is a proof of.
