9. “Caddyshack” Involved Tons of Drugs
Billions of dollars run through the city coming from connections in all corners of the globe.
It makes sense the people who’ve dominated the scene and became so successful might need an extra kick once in a while to wind down.
The 80s was the high point of Hollywood’s excessive lifestyle. Cocaine was rampant in the city, with productions like the classic improv comedy “Caddyshack” basically working coke money into its budget.
The crew asked to be paid in cash in order to better fund their habits, and nearly everyone on the cast list was partying hard every night.
Rodney Dangerfield actually did coke lines during his audition, and Bill Murray has frequently wandered off drunk during filming. He was once apparently found sleeping off a hangover in a sand trap on the golf course they were filming at. Chevy Chase and director Harold Ramis were no strangers to substance abuse at the time either.
