7. Gloria Estefan

When a huge truck ran into her tour bus during a snow storm, singer Gloria Estefan suffered critical injuries to her spine.

After the incident, which took place outside Scranton, Pennsylvania in March 1990, the Latin diva went through a surgery during which she was implanted with two titanium rods into her back and a lot of intense therapy.

Like a trooper, Estefan went back on the road. Regarding the accident, she said: “Maybe this was the whole point of me becoming famous, to now go through something like this in the public eye and hopefully show people how much power we actually have and what we can do to help change our destiny.”
