The master of words of horror was minding his own business while taking a walk near his home in Lovell, Maine, when he was hit by a mini-van out of the blue.
The driver of the minivan claimed that his dog (that was in the back of his truck) distracted him and that he did not see King before it was too late.
King’s right leg was so badly fractured that the doctors were afraid they might have to amputate it, but they were able to rebuild it. King suffered many other injuries, including a broken hip, lacerations to his scalp and a collapsed lung.
The king of horror later bought the minivan and had it crushed. Although he is writing less due to complications from the accident, he is still printing out bestsellers.
