Even though Chris Hemsworth has officially been selected the Sexiest Man Alive for the year 2014, some reports say the Hollywood heartthrob, Ryan Gosling, was apparently approached first, but the 34-year-old actor decided to decline the prestigious title.

It seems that Ryan has been offered the Sexiest Man Alive title by People magazine more than once, however, the actor simply declined to be featured.

Not True?

The magazine’s editorial director, Jess Cagle, on the other hand denies the rumors and says this just wasn’t Ryan’s year.

“The consensus was he’s too serious for it, too artsy. While I look forward to the day when Ryan Gosling is named Sexiest Man Alive, this was not his year. Our 2014 honoree Chris Hemsworth was our first and only choice,” Jess stated for The Wrap.

Chris is Thankful to His Parents

Chris Hemsworth officially took the prestigious title from Maroon 5 singer, Adam Levine, and he didn’t hold back the excitement while receiving the title.

“I am most excited about the alive portion of that statement, and the sexy part is a bonus. I would like to thank my parents, I guess, for putting this together,” joked Chris.

Other contenders who missed the award this year were Neil Patrick Harris, Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey and Chris Pratt.

Tough competition, indeed.
