Mimi O’Donnell, Philip Seymour Hoffman’s life partner and mother of their three children, spoke publically about the actor’s tragic passing that took place a year and a half ago.
The 47-year-old O’Donnell spoke to The New York Times about her life struggles without Hoffman, touching on the subjects of their children and her career in theatre.
“There are so many people who have written beautiful books about grief, who have been able to say it much better than I, but I guess I would say that, after a year has passed, I’m able to function, if that’s the right word, or be in the world a little bit differently,” O’Donnell said.
O’Donnell added that she never tried to hide what she was going though from her children.
“I was pretty stubborn in my falling apart. And my kids saw all of it, because they should. What, am I going to hide it from them? I don’t want them to hide it from me.”
The actor’s widow concluded by saying her work in the Labyrinth Theater Company has helped her deal with grief and come to terms with what has happened.
