Morgan Freeman has been very open about his stance on the marijuana issue, and frankly doesn’t understand why pot isn’t legal.

In a recent interview with the Daily Beast, the 77-year-old actor talked about how he uses marijuana for medical purposes and credits his first wife for introducing him to it back in the 1970s.

“They used to say, ‘You smoke that stuff, boy, you get hooked!’ ” Freeman joked. “My first wife got me into it many years ago. How do I take it? However it comes! I’ll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it!”

Freeman was involved in a car accident in 2008 and had a four-hour surgery to repair nerve damage in his shoulder and arm.

“I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana,” the actor said. “They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, ‘Legalize it across the board!'”

The actor is currently promoting “5 Flights Up”, a romantic comedy starring Diane Keaton.
