The queen of pop and the ultimate material girl was never a woman who you would expect to be quiet about anything, let alone something so horrid as rape. But, that’s exactly what happened after Madonna Louise Ciccone got raped at the age of 19.
Ciccone explained how she just moved to New York City from the Midwest when the incident occurred: “I was in shock, I didn’t know a soul. I was saying, ‘Hi’ to people on the street like a dork.”
Her apartment “kept getting robbed, she was losing all her possessions, but somehow she still maintained her trusting nature,” which led to a very bad situation.
“I was going to a dance class and the door was locked and I needed money for the pay phone. This guy gave it to me; he was a very friendly guy. I trusted everybody,” Madonna continued, before explaining that the man in question persuaded her to make the phone call from his home, across the street and when she went with him, he raped her.
When Stern asked her whether she reported the incident, the 56-year-old international pop superstar then explained that she didn’t: “You’ve already been violated. It’s just not worth it. It’s too much humiliation.”
