Making a victorious return after a year-long pause from Hollywood, Keira Knightley has opened up to “Glamour” about her marriage, wedding ceremony and the way she reacted when James popped up the question.
The 29-year-old British star admitted that when it came to marrying James Righton in an intimate ceremony in the South of France last year, it “seemed like a fun thing to do.”
“No! Not at all! Actually my parents kept saying ‘Why bother?’ I think they only got married to get a mortgage. But when James proposed, I just thought, Well never done that before. It seemed like a fun thing to do,” the actress confessed.
Now, that is one interesting reply to a proposal.
As Keira is full of surprises, she also came clean about her attitude towards money and her salary. Namely, the Oscar-nominated actress only gives herself a $50,000 salary because she believes that living an expensive lifestyle “alienates” her from others.
“I think living an expensive lifestyle means you can’t hang out with people who don’t live that lifestyle. It alienates you. Some of my best most hilarious times have been in the least luxurious places.”
We say – way to go, Keira! It’s the little things. As for her marriage to the English musician, we hope her indifference is just a phase.
