He was a crucial part of many movies and sagas, such as “Alien,” “Harry Potter,” and “Elephant Man.” He’s an exquisite actor and a face to remember. He’s John Hurt – oops, Sir John Hurt.
Aside from this enormous honor and his successful acting career, Sir Hurt has another big thing in his life – cancer. As it happens, the British actor is battling pancreatic cancer, but it didn’t get the best of him yet.
Sir Hurt spoke to Sky News after the event, saying: “I’m halfway through my chemotherapy and I’ve got a whole load of tests next week. It’s extraordinary, I haven’t lost weight or anything and I’m feeling good—it’s crazy. My oncologist is extremely optimistic, as indeed I am, so everything is going really well.”
The actor was accompanied by his wife Anwen Rees Meyers, an advertising film producer. The two are together since 2005, but don’t have any kids together. Sir John Hurt has two sons from one of his previous marriages.
Hurt’s acting career started back in the ‘60s and is still going strong. Needles to say, he deserved this honor, as he now joins the club next to Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, and Sir Ben Kingsley.
