We’re pretty much used to celebs going under the knife for extensive and extreme plastic surgery, but it’s not every day that one of these famous people gets into an accident that might cost them their finger.
Here’s how Fallon describes the events: “I tripped and fell and I caught my fall. So I’m getting up and my finger’s sideways. I wrap my hand in a towel and I get in a cab and go to the emergency room. I go, ‘I broke my finger! I think I broke my finger!’ And they go, ‘Oh, you didn’t break your finger.’”
If he didn’t break his finger, what happened to it? The TV host continued: “It’s a thing called ring avulsion. A-V-U-L-S-I-O-N. If you Google it, it’s graphic images. My ring got caught on a countertop when I was going down and stuck there and pulled my finger out.”
Jimmy Fallon ultimately ended up at Bellevue Hospital, where Dr. David Chiu managed to transplant a vein from his foot into his finger and to leave the celeb’s hand intact. After resting in the ICU for 10 days, Fallon returned to the “Tonight Show” with a cast on his hand and a smile on his face.
