Cathriona White, who broke up with her on again off again boyfriend Jim Carrey, committed suicide just days after their last breakup, leaving a note that hasn’t been disclosed to the public yet but which mentioned Carrey.

It has later been revealed that White, a make-up artist born in Ireland, was a Scientologist undergoing the cult’s “survival” course.

The news comes from respected journalist Tony Ortega, who has been following Scientology for 20 years.

Cathriona was found in her Sherman Oaks home where she appeared to have died from a drug overdose.

Ortega says his close friends involved in Scientology knew White well and were shocked by her death. Carrey’s ex first joined the cult four or five years ago, and the actor was aware of this information when they first started dating in 2012.

“Cathriona’s friends say that they were concerned about Cat dating Carrey again,” said Ortega.

“But they were assured by Scientologists they knew that Cat was emotionally prepared for the challenge of dating Carrey because, they said, ‘She had just finished the Purif and was doing her objectives.”

Purif is a controversial Scientology “detox“ program which helps the followers get rid of toxins and even boost their IQs by as many as 15 points. The price tag? $5,000.
