The world was in shock yesterday when famed musicians Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale announced their split after 13 years of marriage! However, an insider close to the couple revealed that this breakup “was a long time coming” and that it’s not such a surprise for anyone for really knows them well.

One of the most beloved celeb couples issued a joint statement on August 4th which read that they tried to make things work, but as they couldn’t, they decided to the best thing for their family.

They both cited irreconcilable differences in their divorce files, and are seeking joint custody over their three children – 9-year-old Kingston, 6-year-old Zuma, and 17-month-old Apollo.

The No Doubt singer and the Bush frontman also decided to split their assets equally due to no prenuptial agreement. The insider revealed that the ex-power couple tried really hard to save their union, after the birth of their third son, however, “a lot of feeling was gone.”

45-year old Stefani and 49-year-old Rossdale had a rocky marriage even before they’ve decided to have another child, so there wasn’t any real possibility of fixing things.

On the other hand, there are some sources which claim otherwise. According to those sources, even the closest people to the rocker pair were completely shocked by the split, especially because Stefani recently seemed really happy and she was “gushing about her life with four boys.” These sources also claim that there was absolutely no sigh what so ever that Gwen and Gavin were headed for divorce.
