Biggest career mistakes of movie stars – 15 actors who turned down huge roles

PamelaAnderson

7. Pamela Anderson: Agent Scully in The X-Files

According to Gillian Anderson, the original casting call for the role of Agent Scully in “The X Files” was for a taller and leggier woman with plenty of curves.

Rumour has it that studio executives were originally courting “Baywatch” beauty Pamela Anderson for the role.

Hard to believe when you consider the cerebral, moody version of Scully that ultimately played out across screens.

At the time, Pamela Anderson was extremely well-known for her work on “Baywatch” while Gillian Anderson was totally unknown.

20th Century Fox, the show’s producer, was against Gillian from the start, but their executives eventually came around when they saw how well she played the special agent. Casting buxom beauty Pamela Anderson in the lead role would have resulted in a very different show and made actor David Duchovny extremely happy.

Pamela has never quite managed to conquer the acting world and has starred in mainly unknown movies such as “Raw Justice”, “Barb Wire” and “Blonde and Blonder.” She managed to earn some respect from movie fans after starring in hit comedy “Borat” as herself.

By contrast, Gillian Anderson has had a hugely successful career that has encompassed stage, film and theatre which proves that beauty is nothing without true talent even in Hollywood.
