Angelina Jolie was made an honorary Dame in the Birthday Honors List back in June and now she visited the Buckingham Palace, met the Queen and picked up her award. Not a bad day for the Hollywood’s A-lister.
Dedicated Actress
Upon meeting The Queen, Angelina was looking proud, bowed slightly as she shook hands with the monarch.
Back in June when she first learned of this great honor, the actress admitted how much this means to her.
“To receive an honor related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to. Working with survivors of rape is an honor in itself.
I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime, and I am dedicated to it for all of mine,” Angelina stated.
Technicality
Just a quick reminder, the actress was a UN High Commissioner for Refugees for many years before being promoted to a Special Envoy. She regularly visits refugee camps around the world.
Her current campaign against sexual violence is also backed by the former Foreign Secretary William Hague. The two have travelled together to spread their message all over the globe.
The most significant trip was the one in 2013 to the Congo, where they also became good friends in the process.
