Katie Holmes did a candid interview for the Ocean Drive magazine in which she looked back on both her love life and her career, and the actress revealed she doesn’t regret anything that she’s done over the years.

The 36-year-old actress opened up on her failed relationship with Tom Cruise, whom she divorced back in 2012.

“I’ve learned from everything, and everything sort of leads you to the next place. I just keep going.”

Katie stated that she actually pretty regular life, but she does criticize the industry itself.

“I have a very normal life, and I happen to work in an industry that’s abnormal. Daily life, I take a train and a cab; it’s just about getting from here to there, and I don’t care how I do it. I have to get there.”

Katie as a Mom

Katie has a nine-year-old daughter Suri, and the actress says that being a mom altered her life choices drastically. “It changes you completely in such amazing ways, and I think that you become who you were meant to be.”

“Being a parent is also a source of inspiration to just work really hard. You want to set an example – and, you know, (your kids) are what drives you.”

As far as her recent movie endeavors are concerned, the star says this new-found motivation of being a mother gave her strength to try new things, including her recent directorial debut with the movie “All We Had.”

“I don’t shy away from risks. I’m just interested in a lot of different things. I don’t even think of it as a risk; I think of it as something exciting and new. As I’ve grown up, I think that the harder you work the more successful you are.”
