6. Jay-Z Shot His Brother Over a Jewelry Dispute

Jay-Z grew up in a Brooklyn housing project filled with violence, and at a tender age of twelve actually shot his brother, a crack cocaine addict, because he had stolen Jay-Z’s ring.

The rap mogul rarely talks about this incident, but he did discuss it briefly in a 2010 interview with The Guardian, describing his feelings after pulling the trigger.

Jay-Z thought at the time his life was over and he would spend the rest of his life in prison, but his brother actually never pressed charges.

Instead, he apologized to Jay-Z for his addiction when his younger brother visited him in hospital. The star was shot at three times in his life, but was left unscratched and believes an angel is watching over him.
