5. Sean Penn Severely Beat Madonna

Some celebrities make a judgement call that turns out to be a mistake and they are crucified by the media for it over and over again.

On the other hand, some celebrities manage to channel their troublesome ways into more appropriate forms of behaviour, making us all forget about their “mistakes”. Case in point, Sean Penn.

Sean Penn and Madonna were married in the mid-80s while they were both still young, rising stars.

Their marriage was turbulent from start to finish, but there was one night in 1988 that most of us forgot about, but it’s doubtful Madonna ever will. After going berserk over Madonna’s alleged affair with Warren Beatty, Penn got drunk, went over to Madonna’s house where she was alone, tied her to a chair, and beat her for hours, possibly even with a baseball bat, and some reports even suggest he may have raped her.

Penn wasn’t charged with a crime because Madonna wanted the whole thing to go away as quietly as possible.
