Ellen met her not-so-famous music producer husband, Chris Ivery, where it was least expected.

They bumped into each other at a Los Angeles grocery store and started dating only six months later.

Chris proposed on Ellen’s 37th birthday with a 3.5-carat emerald-cut diamond, and the actress said yes.

Merely a year later, the two went down to city hall in New York where City Major Michael Bloomberg served as a witness for their brief, low profile ceremony conducted by a regular city clerk.

Even though Ivery isn’t as famous as herself, Pompeo has said that her husband is extremely secure and has “so much swag,” which she believes was the main reason she fell in love with him.
