Meryl met her husband, Don Gummer, a sculptor, through her brother Harry, and this marriage became one of Hollywood’s longest and strongest relationships ever.

The couple said their secret is a willingness to bend, goodwill, and the ability to shut up every now and then. Sounds about right.

Even though Streep is rumored to have had a fling with none other but Jack Nicholson while working on the film “Ironweed” in 1987, nine years into her marriage to Gummer, Meryl and Don managed to work things out and keep it together pretty well.

Their wedding was a low profile ceremony at Streep’s parents’ home in Mason’s Island, Connecticut.
