7. The Velvet Goldmine Hate

Back in 1998, Todd Haynes wanted to make an impressionistic David Bowie-inspired musical, as a huge fan of David’s persona and art.

The glam music movie, titled Velvet Goldmine, was nothing short of being truly Bowiesque. Yet, somehow, Bowie hated the very idea of it and despised the fact that something like that was going to be made.

He didn’t allow Haynes to use his music, and he even threatened to sue the director when he saw the script. Due to these unforeseen issues, the director had to change the script and make his protagonist less like Bowie.

When the movie finally came out, David bluntly said he hated it.
