6. Soul Train

When you’re a white rock artist and you’ve been asked to appear on soul train, you know you’ve done something right. White artists rarely appeared on Soul Train, especially not during the 70’s, when the iconic music TV program was at its highest.

With that in mind, you can imagine the shock when David Bowie, a British rock singer, made the iconic appearance.

The artist appeared on the legendary show during his Young Americans/Station To Station era. Although his interview seemed quite awkward (and so did he), his performance was absolutely great and he managed to look like he was somewhere where he belonged. And he was – he was on a stage.
