4. The MTV Diss
The famed artist spent most of the 70’s on drugs, just like most of the music industry, and it didn’t do him much good.
He had a lot of unfortunate occasions when he said things that were more than unorthodox, like the time when he “flirted” with fascism, saying that Britain could benefit from the regime.
However, during one occasion he actually said something that was truly valid and right on point. During 1983, Bowie sat down for an interview with MTV, back when MTV was still in diapers, and talked against pervasive rock-music racism. As a foundational MTV artist, Bowie verbally blasted the channel and called its segregating ways out.
