17. Katie Couric
Much of her wealth was earned as a “60 Minutes” correspondent and the cohost of “The Today Show” on NBC.
Later, she became the first solo female news anchor for “CBS Evening News” and won two “Best Newscast” distinctions with the Edward R. Morrow Awards.
She currently hosts “Katie,” her own talk show, and her net worth is continuing to grow.
Despite her success, Katie is notoriously frugal, and she has made it clear that she has little use for expensive, high-end products. She prefers drug store brands like Eucerin moisturizer and Dove soap to products from Bergdorf Goodman, insisting that the cheaper options are usually just as effective as the pricey counterparts.
Stating that her mother raised her to always be on the lookout for a bargain, she brings leftovers for lunch and borrows clothes from friends rather than buying new. In fact, her former “Today” cohost Matt Lauer has even joked that when Katie opens her wallet, moths fly out.

Katie has also written articles about passing down financial wisdom to her two adult daughters. She states than any money they earned from babysitting or odd jobs was quickly deposited into their college funds. As children, when they held bake sales or lemonade stands, all profits were sent to the charity of their choice.
While Katie states she is generous with friends and family and often gives to charity, she tries to see the bigger picture with her finances and saves considerably more than she spends.
