Danny Pintauro had the luck of knowing he was not facing an imminent death when he found out that he was HIV positive in 2003.

The former child star and an actor on the popular television sitcom Who’s the Boss? came out as gay in 1997. Five years later, he made another revelation when he admitted he was suffering from AIDS.

Luckily, Pintauro is doing fine and successfully dealing with the sickness, and he even got married in 2014. He admitted that his diagnosis was the first thing he said to his now-husband when they went on their first date.

According to the actor, “it’s a big deal.”
